Children, youth, and families in Essex County and the State of New Jersey have equitable access to high quality education, affordable housing, economic opportunity, and healthy communities so they can reach their full potential.

Our Mission

Schumann Fund for New Jersey advances ideas and opportunities to empower low-income children, families, and communities of color to thrive. We invest in non-profit organizations rooted in Essex County and statewide that work to advance racial and economic equity.

Program Priorities

We do this work by investing in non-profit organizations that prioritize the following impact areas:

Affordable homes
& healthy communities

Foster affordable homes, economic mobility, and healthy, resilient communities for children and families.

Early Childhood
& Education

Support low-income children and families of color to thrive through opportunities in early childhood development and youth education.

Advance reforms in systems affecting children and youth, such as the child welfare, juvenile justice, and immigration systems, to support racial equity and youth justice.
